Australia Post Address Validation & Rate Loading Issues – Shopify Australia Post Shipping App with Rates, Labels & Tracking FAQs

Fix address validation and rate loading issues for accurate checkout
Australia Post requires that the street address details be provided in a single line via their API. As a result, both address line 1 and address line 2 are merged into one line on the label. This format is mandated by Australia Post, so PluginHive must follow this requirement, and it is not possible to insert a line break between the address lines on the labels generated for Australia Post shipments.
PluginHive does not impose any restrictions on the use of PO Box addresses during Shopify order creation. The app will transmit the provided address (including PO Box addresses) to Australia Post for rate calculation and label generation. If Australia Post accepts the PO Box address as valid, shipping rates and labels will be generated. If you encounter issues creating an order using a PO Box address specifically in Shopify's backend, this is a Shopify platform issue, not a PluginHive restriction. For assistance with backend order creation and PO Box addresses, contact Shopify support directly.
The PluginHive plugin currently supports only a single fulfillment location for shipping calculations. It does not support multi-vendor setups where products are shipped from multiple vendors or addresses.
To change your office address for Australia Post shipping labels, update the Office Location address in your Shopify Location Settings. Once the address is updated in Shopify, the PluginHive app will automatically use the new address for your shipping labels going forward.
You can change the sender address details by following these steps: 1. Go to Shopify Settings and select "Locations" to update your location and sender address information. 2. Alternatively, navigate to the PluginHive app settings and update the "Shop Contact Details" as needed. However, please note that it is not possible to hide the sender details entirely from the label.
To change the "sent from" address, go to your Shopify admin panel and navigate to Settings > Locations. From there, you can update the required Location with the correct address details that will appear as the "sent from" address in your shipments.
The app uses the Shopify assigned Fulfillment Location to the order as sender address on the generated labels. To change the sender address shown on your shipping labels: 1. Navigate to Shopify Settings in your Shopify admin. 2. Click on Locations. 3. Update the address details for your location to the desired sender address. 4. Save your changes. Any shipping labels generated for new orders after this update will display the updated sender address.
To customize or update the address displayed on the packing slip generated by PluginHive, custom coding is required: 1. The packing slip template available in the app needs to be edited to reflect your preferred address format and content. 2. It is recommended to contact your web developer to make the necessary changes to your packing slip template. 3. Provide your developer with the exact address details you want displayed so they can edit the template accordingly.
If you are unable to resolve discrepancies after verifying package and address details, you can reach out to PluginHive support by: 1. Sharing complete screenshots of the rate calculation screens (with visible address and package details). 2. Scheduling a call with PluginHive support to discuss and troubleshoot the issue. 3. Providing any additional information requested by the support team for more effective troubleshooting.
If you encounter an "address not found" error for an order with a PO Box shipping address, check whether the suburb and postal code match correctly. If not, please check the correct suburb and postal code on the Au Post portal and update the same for the order and this should resolve the issue.
The "invalid.address.suburb.tooLong" error occurs when the suburb or address field exceeds the character limit allowed by Australia Post. To resolve this: Edit the shipping address for the affected order. Ensure the suburb and other address fields (both From and To) comply with the character limits defined by Australia Post. Save the updated address. Retry generating the label. Tip: You can verify address formatting on the Australia Post website- https://auspost.com.au/postcode If you continue to face issues or would like help updating the address, you can authorize the PluginHive support team to make the necessary changes on your behalf.
To update the shop address and website URL shown on the packing slip, you need to ensure your store's business and location information is correctly set up in your Shopify admin, as packing slip templates pull data from these settings. Here’s how to check and update them: 1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel. 2. Go to Settings > Store Details to review and update your store’s general address and website information. 3. Go to Settings > Locations to review and update the address(es) associated with your fulfillment locations, as these details can also appear on packing slips. 4. After updating the required information, navigate to the PluginHive app in your Shopify store. 5. From the PluginHive app dashboard, go to App Settings > Documents/Labels Settings > Edit Packing Slip Template. 6. If needed, review the packing slip template code. Variables like {{ shop.name }} and {{ shop.addressSummary }} will now pull the updated information. 7. Save the changes. The packing slips generated moving forward will include the updated address and website URL. If you have customized your packing slip template and want to ensure it uses the correct fields, check that you are referencing the appropriate variables. If the issue persists after updating your store settings, review customizations or reach out to PluginHive support for further assistance.
The PluginHive app uses the Shopify Location address assigned to each order as the 'From address' on shipping labels. To update this address: 1. Go to Shopify Settings. 2. Click on "Location". 3. Update the address for the relevant location. The new address will then appear on shipping labels generated for orders assigned to that location.
To update the email address displayed on the CN23 form for international Australia Post shipments, please contact PluginHive support and request the change. Once the support team has confirmed that the email has been updated in the app, generate a new shipping label through the PluginHive app. The new email address should now appear on the CN23 form. If you continue to see the old email address, reach out to support for further assistance.

If the shipping details provided in your Shopify store's location are correct, valid, and used for processing your Australia Post orders, you can ignore the validation message. However, if the address is not accurate or needs updating, follow these steps: 1. Navigate to your Shopify admin dashboard. 2. Go to Settings. 3. Select Locations. 4. Click on the specific Location Name that requires validation. 5. Update the address fields with valid and correct details. 6. Click Save to ensure the changes take effect. Validating your addresses ensures accurate shipping information when using the Australia Post API. If you need further assistance, contact support for help.
To resolve this message, ensure that all details entered in the Locations section of your Shopify store are correct and valid, including address, city, postal code, and country. Australia Post will only validate locations if the provided information matches their requirements. Review and update your store locations to correct any errors or incomplete details. Once all location details are accurate and complete, the Australia Post API will validate them, and the message should no longer appear.
Once the address modification feature is enabled for your store, any shipping address changes made to orders in Shopify will be automatically synchronized with the PluginHive Multi Carrier app upon refreshing. The system will alert you about any modifications to orders and update the shipping details used for label generation, ensuring the latest information is applied. This helps prevent shipping errors caused by outdated addresses.
If you have only one location added and the address details entered are correct and valid, you can safely ignore the warning message about location validation. This warning does not block your ability to generate shipping labels.
The email ID and contact number required during the app configuration are used solely for contact purposes, and you can provide any valid email ID. If you encounter an error stating "Please enter a valid email address," ensure that you are entering the email in the correct format (e.g., [email protected]) with no spaces or extra characters. If your email follows the correct format and you still face issues, try using a different email address to complete the setup.
If shipping rate failures persist: 1. Review the PluginHive order logs for the affected orders to identify any patterns or recurring causes. 2. Confirm that shipping addresses, especially suburb names, match formats required by Australia Post. 3. If the issue is not evident in the logs or continues after checking address formats, document the affected order numbers and share them with PluginHive support. 4. PluginHive support can escalate recurring or unclear cases to the technical team for further analysis and provide additional troubleshooting or resolution steps.
"Error 9: Your combination of suburb, state & postcode doesn't match" occurs when the address details in the Shopify location settings—specifically, the suburb, state, or postcode—do not match Australia Post's recognized address database. To resolve this error: 1. Cross-check the suburb, state, and postcode entered in your Shopify location settings. 2. Use the Australia Post website or address finder tool to verify the correct suburb associated with your postal code. 3. Update the "Ship From" address in your Shopify store with the correct and standardized address as recognized by Australia Post. 4. Save the changes and attempt to generate the shipping label again.
This message indicates that some of your store locations' addresses may not have been verified with the Australia Post system. To avoid any issues, ensure that all your store locations have complete and accurate address details entered in Shopify (including street address, city, state, and postal code). If all the location details are correct, then you can ignore the message shown in the app.
Ideally, the PluginHive support team sends the meeting invite 5–10 minutes before the scheduled time. If you haven’t received it: 1. Check your spam or junk folder for the invitation email. 2. If it’s not there, send an email to [email protected] with your store URL and email address. 3. The team will share the meeting details so you can join the call.
PluginHive is in the process of checking for the possibilities to enhance the app to handle the suburb mismatches.
This error often occurs when the Suburb and Postal Code in the shipping address do not match, preventing Australia Post from providing shipping rates. For example, for postal code 2775, the correct suburb is "ST ALBANS" as verified on the Australia Post website. To resolve this issue, update the shipping address so that the suburb and postal code match, then try generating the labels again.
These errors typically occur due to two main reasons: 1. Incorrect Shipping Address: Ensure the shipping address entered for the order is complete and follows the carrier's format requirements. Double-check for any missing or invalid fields such as postal code, street address, or city. 2. Incorrect Product Weight: Check the weight settings of your products. The weight should be entered in kilograms (kg) and not in grams (gm). For example, use 0.1 kg instead of 0.1 gm to avoid errors during label generation. To resolve the issue: – Update the order's shipping address with accurate information. – Edit your product settings to ensure weights are in kilograms. – Retry generating the shipping label after making these corrections.
If shipping rates are not loading for an order, it may be due to incorrect or misspelled address details—specifically the suburb in the shipping address. To resolve this: 1. Verify that the suburb and other address fields match the official address names and spellings used by your shipping provider. 2. Correct any discrepancies, such as misspellings in the suburb or city. 3. After correcting the address, recheck the order in the PluginHive dashboard; the shipping rates should now appear as expected. Always ensure address accuracy to avoid issues in rate calculation for live orders.
If certain suburbs aren’t showing during checkout, it could be due to your store or shipping app settings. To fix this: 1. Check your shipping zones and methods to make sure the suburb/postcode is included. 2. Test the address on the Australia Post website to confirm if services are available there. If it still doesn’t work, contact PluginHive support for help.
The error "Your combination of suburb, state & postcode doesn't match" indicates that either the Ship From Address or the Recipient Address provided for the order is incorrect. Please cross check the postal code and the suburb provided for the addresses and make sure that the combination is correct. You can check the Australia Post official website for verifying the postal code and suburb combinations.
