Following is the changelog in the version 1.4.1.

Version 1.4.1 Changelog

New Features:

  • Cost Per Unit Shipping Rates
  • And Logic for Shipping Classes and Product Categories
  • FedEx Standard Shipping Boxes
  • Currency Conversion for Shipping Carriers

There are tons of other minor fixes and improvements which you can find by clicking here. Now, let us check out the features listed above.

i.) Cost Per Unit Shipping Rate Adjustment

WooCommerce Multi-Carrier Shipping plugin already had the options to add separate shipping rules for each shipping carrier. Besides this, the plugin also offers the capabilities of the table rate shipping. In other words, the plugin allows you to calculate shipping rates based on factors like product weight, order value, and product quantity. However, with this new release, the WooCommerce store owners will now be able to adjust shipping rates in a different way. With WooCommerce Multi-Carrier now you will be able to adjust shipping rates based on per unit weight, price or quantity of products that are in the cart. The image below shows the option to add the shipping cost per unit based on the factor selected.

Once you set up the shipping rates based on any of the factors like weight, quantity or price, and add the shipping cost per unit, the shipping rates on the cart page will have these rates added to them. Take a look at the image below.

The image shows an order having FedEx 2-Day Delivery shipping rates as $19.02. These shipping rates are without any adjustment. Once, you add a cost per unit on top of the shipping rates, the plugin will get different rates. Just like the shipping rates in the image below, where you can see the additional $5 shipping rate based on the number of products in the cart, added to the shipping rates.

ii.) ‘And’ Logic for Shipping Classes and Product Categories

WooCommerce store owners rely a lot on the use of shipping classes as well as product categories. The reason being, using these functionalities, you can combine a lot of products together and calculate shipping rates for all of them instantaneously. However, it becomes very difficult when there are multiple such groups. Calculating shipping rates for two or more such groups or individual products from different categories becomes very difficult. However, in the new release, WooCommerce Multi-Carrier Shipping plugin supports an easy way to do the same. The plugin allows store owners to create a single shipping rule for multiple shipping classes and product category. Using the ‘And‘ Logic functionality, the plugin will let you create shipping rules in scenarios like,

  • Products from Shipping Class A is added to the cart.
  • Products from Shipping Class B is added to the cart.
  • Products from Shipping Class A or Shipping Class B is added to the cart.
  • Products from Shipping Class A as well as Shipping Class B is added to the cart.

The image below shows the option to enable the ‘And’ Logic for shipping calculation.

After enabling this option, the shipping rule with more than one shipping class/product category is available, shipping rates will only be calculated when products from both the categories are present in the cart.

iii.) FedEx Standard Shipping Boxes

By default, there are some shipping carriers that offer their own standard boxes with predefined weight and dimensions. With multiple shipping carrier support, the plugin already includes the USPS Flat Rate Boxes. However, in this update, the plugin now supports FedEx Standard Shipping Boxes. With the new update, the store owners can not only add custom packing boxes, but they will also be able to choose from the predefined FedEx Shipping Boxes. These boxes will be available under the Recommended: Pack into Boxes with Weight and Dimensions. The image below shows you where you can enable these shipping boxes.

And once you change the parcel method, you can enable the following FedEx Standard Boxes from the list or even create your own shipping boxes with custom weight and dimensions.

iv.) Currency Conversion for Shipping Carriers

One of the major issues with WooCommerce store owners is the currency conversion. Most of the times, the store have the shipping carrier configured in a different currency than that of store currency. In such cases, the shipping carrier will only return the shipping rates in that currency which is configured for the shipper’s account. Also, just by changing the currency of the store won’t do any good. The reason being, this way only the currency symbol will change and not the numeric value. Hence, the latest version of WooCommerce Multi-Carrier Shipping plugin has got an option to convert the currency for the shipping carriers. The image below shows the currency conversion option in case of UPS.

Now, the value 1.34 is the currency conversion rate from Pounds (GBP) to Dollars (USD). Similarly, you can easily get the currency conversion rate and convert the shipping rates into the store currency. And the best part is, you won’t be needing any third-party plugin for the same.
