FAQs
- Do I need WooCommerce to use the NZ Post Shipping plugin?
Yes, this plugin requires WooCommerce to be installed and active on your WordPress website. It integrates directly with WooCommerce checkout, orders, and shipping zones to deliver NZ Post shipping functionality.
- Do I need an NZ Post account to use this plugin?
Yes, you need a valid NZ Post business account with API access. To connect the plugin, you will need your NZ Post Client ID, Client Secret, Account Number, and Site Code. These credentials are available from the NZ Post developer portal at nzpost.co.nz/business/ecommerce/shipping-apis.
- Do my products need weight and dimensions for NZ Post rates to display at checkout?
Yes, product weight is required for the NZ Post Rates API to return shipping rates. The plugin uses product weight and the customer’s delivery address to fetch live rates at checkout. You can configure a minimum weight value in the plugin settings to handle products with incomplete shipping data, and set a fallback flat rate to display when live rates cannot be retrieved.
- Can I display NZ Post rates alongside WooCommerce free shipping or flat rate methods?
Yes, the plugin is fully compatible with all native WooCommerce shipping methods including free shipping and flat rate. You can add it to any WooCommerce shipping zone alongside other methods and give customers the choice at checkout.
- Does the plugin fetch real-time NZ Post shipping rates?
Yes, the plugin fetches live rates from the NZ Post Rates API for each order at checkout based on product weight, packing configuration, and the customer’s delivery address. A fallback flat rate can be configured to display when live rates are temporarily unavailable, ensuring checkout is never blocked by an API timeout.
- Which NZ Post shipping services does the plugin support?
The plugin supports NZ Post CourierPost domestic services (Courier Parcel, Express Tonight, and others), Pace same-day services for Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch, and seven NZ Post international services including Courier, Express, Economy Plus, and Economy Tracked. You can enable or disable each service independently and configure custom display names and rate adjustments per service.
- What are Pace same-day services?
Pace is NZ Post’s same-day delivery service available in Wellington, Auckland, and Christchurch. The plugin supports two Pace service groups: Pace Express and Pace Priority. Pace Priority services (3-hour delivery) are available in each city where Pace operates. Pace services are fetched live from the NZ Post API and appear at checkout when the delivery address is within a supported city.
- Does the plugin support international shipping?
Yes, the plugin supports NZ Post international shipping services. International rates are fetched from the NZ Post International Rates API. For international label generation, the plugin supports customs information including HS tariff codes, country of origin, commercial value, and transaction nature for CN22/CN23 customs declarations.
- Is the plugin compatible with WooCommerce shipping zones?
Yes, the plugin is fully compatible with WooCommerce shipping zones. You can add it as a shipping method to any zone and configure enabled services, rate adjustments, and other settings independently per zone instance.
- Can I print NZ Post shipping labels from my WooCommerce dashboard?
Yes. You can generate and download NZ Post shipping labels in PDF or PNG format directly from the order detail page in your WooCommerce dashboard. Labels are available in two sizes: 174×100 mm (standard) and 150×100 mm.
- Can I generate an NZ Post label for an order placed using free shipping or flat rate?
Yes. The plugin allows you to generate NZ Post labels for any WooCommerce order regardless of the shipping method the customer selected at checkout. From the order detail page, you can select the NZ Post service you want to use and generate the label directly.
- How does the plugin send NZ Post tracking information to customers?
When a shipment is booked, the NZ Post tracking number is automatically added to the WooCommerce order. The tracking number is included in the WooCommerce order completion email, and customers can click the tracking link to view their shipment status on the NZ Post tracking portal. Tracking information is also accessible from the customer’s My Account page in your WooCommerce store.
- Does the plugin support return labels?
Yes. From the order detail page, you can generate a return label for any booked shipment. Select the return service and click Generate Return Label. The return tracking number is stored with the order and a Print Return Label button appears once the label is created.
- Does the plugin support NZ Post trackpaks and predefined envelopes?
Yes. The plugin includes all 11 NZ Post trackpak and envelope formats as predefined box options — including A4, A4 Bubble, A5, A5 Bubble, DLE, Foolscap, Lineflow, Eco A5, Eco DLE, Eco Foolscap, and Xtra Large Trackpaks. When a trackpak is selected as the packing option, the plugin sends the correct envelope format code to the NZ Post API so that only eligible services are returned for that packaging type.
- Can I configure shipping settings at the product level?
Yes. The plugin adds per-product shipping fields that let you configure HS tariff code, insurance, and country of manufacture for individual products and variations. These product-level values are used when generating international labels, overriding the global defaults set in the plugin’s international settings.
- Does the plugin support HS tariff codes for international shipments?
Yes. You can set a default HS tariff code in the plugin’s international settings and override it at the individual product level. HS codes must be between 6 and 10 digits. The plugin validates the code before sending it to the NZ Post Labels API. Some destination countries such as the United States require exactly 10 digits — the NZ Post API enforces per-country requirements.
- Is the plugin compatible with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS)?
Yes. The plugin has declared compatibility with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS / Custom Order Tables), making it compatible with WooCommerce’s modern order storage architecture.
- What refund policy applies to this plugin?
The plugin is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee. If the plugin does not meet your business requirements, you can request a refund within 30 days of purchase.
- Can I use this plugin on multiple WooCommerce stores?
