UPS Plugin Cost & Shipping Charges – WooCommerce UPS FAQs
-
Understanding Plugin Pricing and UPS Shipping Fees
Yes, by estimating and entering the correct weight for each product in WooCommerce, the plugin will use these values to request live rates from the UPS API. The rates displayed on your website will completely match your actual UPS shipping costs, as the calculations are based on the product weights you provide and your UPS account-based rates retrieved directly from UPS.
It is not possible to transfer the amount from the UPS Plugin to the WooCommerce Shipping Services (WSS) plugin, as WSS has a different subscription model with monthly or yearly pricing tiers based on the number of shipping labels processed.
Refunds are only applicable within a 30-day period. If the 30-day period has ended, a refund request cannot be processed. However, assistance with plugin setup and resolving any issues is still available.
No, it is not possible to display the product price including shipping within the same section on WooCommerce’s checkout. The shipping cost will always be shown as a separate line in the shipping section. However, with the “PH Hide WooCommerce Shipping Methods & Rate Adjustment” addon, you can hide or display specific shipping methods based on various conditions and add handling fees to shipping methods as needed.
Yes, the plugin allows you to apply either a fixed or percentage-based rate adjustment to shipping costs. This feature can be used to cover additional expenses such as shipping materials.
No, the WooCommerce UPS Shipping plugin does not support configuring conditional shipping rules based on criteria such as shipping class, product category, item weight, quantity, or price.
No, UPS Ground with Freight Pricing does not support individual packages weighing over 150 lbs. If you need to ship packages heavier than 150 lbs, you’ll need to use the TForce Freight plugin, as UPS no longer handles such shipments directly. TForce was previously part of UPS Freight but now operates as a separate carrier.
You can purchase the TForce plugin from here: https://www.pluginhive.com/product/woocommerce-tforce-freight-shipping-plugin-with-print-label/
The PluginHive UPS plugin displays the live rates, including taxes, as returned directly from the UPS API. The “Taxes on Rates” option allows you to include or exclude taxes on shipping costs as provided by the UPS API. To manage how taxes are applied, you should configure your tax settings in WooCommerce by navigating to WooCommerce → Settings → Tax.
As an AI assistant, I don’t have access to billing or purchase details. To verify if you were billed twice, I recommend reaching out to our support team at [email protected]. They’ll be able to review your account and assist you further.
The UPS API integrated with the PluginHive UPS plugin performs Address Validation and considers whether the shipping address is commercial or residential. To enable this, you need to activate the “Address Classification” option in the plugin’s general settings. This informs the UPS API to handle address validation during the shipping process.
The UPS plugin passes the declared package value to UPS, regardless of the amount (including values above $100). UPS provides liability coverage for the declared value, typically for an additional cost. For specific coverage details, you can refer to the UPS documentation or contact your UPS representative.
Yes, the plugin includes a rate adjustment feature that allows you to add an additional amount to the shipping rate. You can set either a percentage-based markup or a flat fee, which will be included in the shipping service total charged to your customers. This enables you to cover additional costs as needed. For detailed instructions, refer: https://www.pluginhive.com/knowledge-base/setting-woocommerce-ups-shipping-plugin/#adjust-shipping-rates
Due to recent changes moving PluginHive products into subscription-based payments, adding new payment methods is only allowed during the checkout or renewal process. You do not need to update your payment method immediately. Once your plugin subscriptions are due for renewal, you will be prompted during the renewal process to update or add a payment method. At that time, you can enter your new payment details and set up auto-renewal for your products. There is no need to add a payment method in advance outside of the checkout or renewal flow.
Currently, there is no direct way within the PluginHive shipping plugins to set different price adjustments specifically based on products or shipping classes. To achieve this requirement, you can use the “PH Hide WooCommerce Shipping Methods & Rate Adjustment” plugin alongside your primary shipping plugin (such as UPS). This combination allows you to adjust shipping rates on the cart and checkout pages based on flexible conditions, including the type of product, shipping zone, cart weight, product count, total price, applied coupons, or specific user roles. You can:
1. Purchase and install the “PH Hide WooCommerce Shipping Methods & Rate Adjustment” plugin from PluginHive.
2. Configure the plugin to set custom rate adjustments for specific shipping class.
3. These adjustments will apply automatically at checkout when the conditions are met, providing the flexibility you need.
For more information and to purchase the plugin, visit: https://www.pluginhive.com/product/hide-woocommerce-shipping-methods-and-rate-adjustment/
To use a different payment method for your plugin renewal, complete a new purchase of the plugin using your preferred payment method via this link: https://www.pluginhive.com/product/woocommerce-ups-shipping-plugin-with-print-label/. After purchasing, configure the new API in the plugin as required. This process ensures your payment method is updated with the new purchase.
The PluginHive shipping plugin applies pricing adjustments at the order level, so it doesn’t support adding a shipping adjustment per product by default.
If you need to charge a $10 shipping adjustment for each product in the cart, we recommend using our PH Hide WooCommerce Shipping Methods & Rate Adjustment plugin. This solution allows you to configure shipping adjustments based on the product’s shipping class, which can help achieve per-product level control.
Enable the Insurance option in the plugin settings. Once enabled, all products shipped via UPS will automatically be insured based on their price value. You can also set a minimum order value for the insurance to apply.
To download your invoice, log in to your PluginHive My Account page. There, you can find and download your order invoice. You also have the option to update your billing address and company information under your account settings before downloading your invoice. If you need further assistance, you can contact PluginHive support.
To charge buyers for expected duties, taxes, or customs charges when shipping from the USA to Canada, you can adjust the price of UPS services by adding a handling fee in the PluginHive UPS plugin. Here’s how to do it:
1. Go to the UPS plugin settings.
2. Navigate to the “Rates & Services” section.
3. Calculate the estimated extra costs (duties, taxes, customs charges) from UPS.
4. Add a handling fee or adjust the UPS service rates by the estimated amount to cover these charges.
This adjustment will reflect in the checkout, so buyers pay the extra expected costs to the seller.
Automatic renewal is not currently available for the plugin. You will not be charged automatically. To renew your license, you need to manually purchase a new license from the PluginHive website at this link: https://www.pluginhive.com/product/woocommerce-ups-shipping-plugin-with-print-label/.
Enable the “Address Classification” option in the general settings of the PluginHive UPS shipping plugin. This allows the plugin to use the UPS API to validate the shipping address and automatically apply residential surcharges if the address is classified as residential. The plugin will display and include these fees as provided by UPS.
To exclude tax from product prices on the Commercial Invoice in the UPS plugin, set the “Price Value” to “Declared” under the International Forms option. This will prevent tax from being shown in the product pricing fields on the invoice. However, please note that the total shipping price will still include tax, as it is not possible to exclude tax from the total shipping amount in the current plugin configuration.
You can download the invoice for your purchase by logging in to your PluginHive My Account page. Once logged in at pluginhive.com, navigate to the My Account section and download your invoice from there.
The PluginHive UPS plugin fetches live shipping rates directly from the UPS API. If you’d like to lower these rates for your customers, you can apply a price adjustment (either a percentage or flat discount) by entering negative values in the plugin settings. This allows you to reduce the live UPS rates shown at checkout.
You can purchase the add-on by visiting the following link: https://www.pluginhive.com/product/customization-for-pluginhive-woocommerce-plugins/. After completing the purchase, share the order number with PluginHive via email. The add-on zip file will be provided within 2-3 business days.
The renewal process is essentially the same as purchasing the plugin again. You can renew your plugin by purchasing it once more through the provided product link: https://www.pluginhive.com/product/woocommerce-ups-shipping-plugin-with-print-label/. This will serve as your renewal.
To renew your PluginHive plugin license, purchase the plugin from its product link: https://www.pluginhive.com/product/woocommerce-ups-shipping-plugin-with-print-label/

In order to investigate your case, please create a support ticket and follow the steps below:
1. Visit the General Tab of the plugin settings.
2. Enable the “Debug Mode” option.
3. Check the rates again
4. Navigate to the “Help & Support” page within the plugin settings.
Submit a Diagnostic Report to us as per the instructions provided on that page, Once done our team will get back to you.
This error typically occurs when the UPS account being used is not approved or enabled for Ground with Freight Pricing (GFP) services. To resolve the issue:
1. Verify that your UPS account is approved for GFP by contacting UPS or checking your account status.
2. Provide UPS with the full company name and address exactly as registered on your UPS.com My Profile page to ensure account verification.
3. If your account is not yet enabled for GFP, request that UPS or your account representative adds this service capability to your account.
4. Ensure that your shipment parameters (service type, container type, and billing options) comply with UPS’s requirements for GFP (e.g., dimensional and weight limits).
You can set a static insurance value (declared value) for each product directly within the product settings. Follow these steps:
1. Go to your WordPress admin dashboard.
2. Navigate to Products and select the product you want to edit.
3. Click on Edit to open the product details page.
4. Scroll down to the Shipping section and select UPS Shipping Details.
5. Locate the “Custom Declared Value” field.
6. Enter your desired static insurance (declared) value for the product.
This declared value will be used as the insurance amount for UPS shipments of that product, regardless of the actual product sale price. Repeat these steps for each product for which you want a customized insurance value.
Custom conditional shipping rates cannot be configured directly in the PluginHive UPS plugin. The plugin only retrieves real-time rates from the UPS API based on package details and address. If you want to modify UPS rates by adding an extra charge based on the total product weight in the cart, you can use the PH Hide WooCommerce Shipping Methods & Rate Adjustment Plugin. For setting your own shipping rules based on total cart weight, you can use the WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping Pro Plugin from PluginHive, which allows more advanced rule configurations based on location, weight, price, item count, and more.
Free shipping based on a minimum order amount can be set up using the built-in WooCommerce feature. To enable this:
1. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping in your WordPress dashboard.
2. Select the shipping zone for which you want to offer free shipping, or create a new one if necessary.
3. Click “Add Shipping Method” or select an existing Free Shipping method.
4. Choose “Free Shipping” as the shipping method.
For more details, refer to the WooCommerce documentation: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/free-shipping/
UPS Shipping Plugin To ensure the rates displayed match exactly with your UPS account, please review the configurations below:
1. Make sure the “Negotiated Rates” option is enabled, and set the “Customer Classification” to “Rates associated with shipper number” in the plugin settings.
2. The most common reasons for mismatched rates include incorrect shipper/recipient address, UPS service code, and package weight and dimensions.
3. Please double-check these details. Verify the “Insured Value Indicator” setting in the plugin, as it may also affect the calculated rates.
You can cross-check this with UPS.com
To have your subscription automatically renewed, you need to first renew your plugin license by purchasing a new license from the provided product link. Going forward, your license will then be set to renew automatically each year.

1. Go to the WooCommerce dashboard.
2. Navigate to Settings > Shipping > UPS.
3. Click on the “International forms” tab.
4. Ensure the “Commercial Invoice” option is enabled (turned on).
Once this setting is activated, commercial invoices will be created automatically when you generate UPS shipping labels for international orders.
To renew your license for the plugin, you need to purchase a new license from the following link: https://www.pluginhive.com/product/woocommerce-ups-shipping-plugin-with-print-label/. After you complete the purchase and receive your new license, update it on the UPS License Activation Settings page on your website.
To request a refund, contact PluginHive support with your refund request. Your request will be forwarded to the concerned team for approval.
When the Pre-pack option is enabled, each quantity of that product is treated as a separate package, each using its own weight and dimensions. This means:
– Each unit is packed individually and shipping cost is calculated for each package.
– The Pre-pack product will not be packed with other products in the order; it is always calculated separately.
Customer payments for their orders are processed through the payment gateway connected to your WooCommerce site; these funds go directly to your store and not to UPS. UPS shipping charges are not deducted from the customer’s payment at checkout. Instead, when you process an order and generate shipping labels via the PluginHive UPS Shipping plugin, your registered UPS account is billed for the shipping and label costs. You, as the store owner, are responsible for paying UPS according to your agreement and billing cycle with UPS. The plugin syncs order and shipping information to facilitate label generation but does not transfer customer funds directly to UPS.
The “Disallow WooCommerce Shipping to PO Box” add-on is a custom paid PluginHive extension designed to restrict UPS shipping options for PO Box addresses in WooCommerce. With this add-on:
– You can specify various PO Box name combinations (such as “PO Box,” “Box,” etc.) to automatically hide UPS shipping methods when such addresses are entered at checkout.
– The add-on allows you to display a custom message to inform customers that UPS shipping is not available for PO Box addresses and prompt them to use a different address.
– If UPS is your only available shipping method, customers entering a PO Box address will not be able to proceed with UPS shipping, and you can tailor the message to suggest alternative steps, such as contacting your business directly.
The PluginHive UPS plugin displays live shipping rates, including any taxes, exactly as returned by the UPS API. The “Taxes on Rates” option in the plugin allows you to include taxes that the UPS API adds to shipping costs. If you require specific tax handling or see discrepancies (such as city tax not being collected), configure your tax rules in WooCommerce by going to WooCommerce → Settings → Tax. The plugin does not modify the taxes from the UPS API or WooCommerce settings.
When using weight-based calculations, the UPS shipping plugin offers a Volumetric Weight option in the packaging settings. This feature calculates the volumetric (dimensional) weight of the package. The plugin compares the actual weight of the cart with the calculated volumetric weight and uses whichever is higher when sending the shipping rate request to UPS. This ensures accurate rate calculation for oversized boxes.
The WooCommerce UPS Shipping Plugin with Print Label supports Hazmat shipments and retrieves real-time shipping rates including Hazmat charges directly from the UPS API. The Hazmat fee is not displayed as a separate charge; instead, it is incorporated within the total shipping cost shown to the customer during checkout. This ensures that any Hazmat-related surcharges required by UPS are automatically included in the shipping rates calculated and displayed. For more detailed information and setup instructions, you can refer to the PluginHive Hazmat shipping article: https://www.pluginhive.com/ship-ups-hazardous-material-dangerous-goods-using-woocommerce/
Product weight and dimensions are mandatory for shipping rate calculations. If your packaging method is set to “weight-based,” only the weight is required for calculating rates. If “Box Packaging” is selected, both weight and dimensions need to be entered for accurate rate calculation.
The add-on costs $250 and is non-refundable. It is recommended to ensure that the add-on meets your requirements before making a purchase. You can reach out to [email protected] for more details.
The license for the WooCommerce UPS Shipping Plugin with Print Label needs to be renewed annually. Each payment entitles you to 1 year of support and updates. To continue receiving support and updates after your current term expires, you will need to renew the license every year.
I’m sorry to hear about the double charge. I recommend contacting our team at [email protected] — they’ll be able to review your account and assist you with the extra charge, including processing a refund if needed.
PluginHive support is unable to locate your order with just the company name. To assist you, they require the billing email address that was used during the purchase. Without the correct billing email or order details, they are unable to trace your order or provide a receipt.
If you’ve renewed your plugin license early and have a new purchase order number, please contact [email protected].
They will help you with the query.
Yes, if no declared value is added, the insured value defaults to the product cost. You only need to specify an insured value if you want it to differ from the product price.
The PluginHive UPS plugin displays live shipping rates returned directly from the UPS API. These rates are automatically calculated based on the shipment address and the package details, including weight and dimensions. It is not possible to configure custom conditional shipping rules within the plugin. The rate shown will always reflect the latest rates provided by UPS for the given order parameters.
Currently, the PluginHive UPS plugin does not store the shipment cost shown during the label generation process. The cost displayed at that stage is an estimate fetched from UPS before creating the shipment. When the actual shipment is created and the shipping label is generated, UPS does not return the final shipping cost charged for that shipment through their API; therefore, the plugin cannot record this final amount. Only the estimated costs shown prior to label generation and the eventual invoice from UPS are available for reference. As a result, reconciliation must be done using these estimates and the official UPS invoice.
The invoice can either display the discounted price or the original product price. It is not possible to show both values separately or display a cumulative rebate amount at the bottom. Only one price format can be shown at a time.
By default, the “Sold To” address on the UPS Commercial Invoice is set to the end customer’s address who placed the order.
Currently, the plugin does not support displaying a separate “UPS Access Point” shipping method with its own price list directly under “UPS Standard” on the cart page. The Access Point option and its pricing are only available on the checkout page.
It is not feasible to place an order without providing the shipping or billing address. The system requires this information for order processing, and orders cannot be submitted with empty shipping or billing addresses.
No, currently each license must be purchased separately and cannot be combined into a single transaction for one payment or invoice. Each license order is processed individually.
The default PluginHive UPS plugin does not support automatically sorting shipping methods by price. However, there is a custom paid add-on available that sorts all WooCommerce shipping methods from the lowest to the highest price. This ensures the most affordable shipping option appears at the top and is selected by default.
The next purchase of your plugin will be treated as a subscription, and auto-renewal will be enabled from that point onward. The “subscription none” status on your profile does not affect this process; once you renew through the recommended method, auto-renewal will apply going forward.
The charge for the custom addon is a one-time payment. It includes 90 days of support and updates, and is compatible with the latest versions of WooCommerce, WordPress, and the UPS plugin. These add-ons are non-refundable. You can reach out to [email protected] for more details.
The purchase for the add-on is for a one-time payment, not a yearly subscription. You pay once to receive the latest version.
Currently, it is not possible to automatically populate the signature and date fields on the commercial invoice through the plugin. These fields must be manually signed and dated on each invoice.
No, the UPS plugin does not support configuring price adjustments for specific products. To achieve product-specific rate adjustments, you will need to use an additional plugin, such as the PH Hide Shipping and Rate Adjustment plugin.
Enabling the declared value insurance option in the UPS plugin will pass the declared value to UPS, regardless of the package’s worth. UPS provides liability coverage (insurance) as a special service and charges an additional cost for it. The insurance fee is determined by UPS. For further details on how insurance costs work, you should refer to relevant UPS documentation or contact your UPS representative.
Your purchase must be within the 30-day refund period. You’ll need to contact PluginHive Support with your refund request, and our team will assist you further.

If Stripe is unable to process your payment, you can try the following alternatives:
– Retry payment with a different VISA or Mastercard card using Stripe (AMEX, Discover, JCB, and Diners are not supported).
– Use PayPal Gateway with your Credit/Debit card, even if you do not have a PayPal account (if PayPal is supported in your country).
– If none of these options work, you can send money manually via PayPal to [email protected].
Let the team know if you face any difficulty with these alternatives.
Please share the details of the charges that indicate a double payment so PluginHive support can investigate and assist further.
If your payment fails when using the Stripe Payment gateway, try the following steps:
1. Retry the payment using a different VISA or Mastercard card, as Stripe does not support AMEX, Discover, JCD, or Dinners at the moment.
2. Alternatively, you can attempt to complete the payment via PayPal (if available in your country), using your Credit/Debit card. No PayPal account is needed; simply use your card through the PayPal Gateway.
3. If neither Stripe nor PayPal options work, you can manually send the payment to the PayPal account associated with the email address [email protected].
4. If you continue to experience issues, you can request further assistance, including connecting over a Zoom call for help.
If your website goes blank during shipping cost calculation in the backend, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
1. There may be a sync issue between the plugin license and your UPS registration.
2. Deactivate the plugin license and reactivate it:

Kindly also check the rates directly from the UPS API to confirm.
When you select the “Pack into boxes with weights and dimensions” option, the plugin automatically chooses the most efficient box based on the product dimensions and weights. The shipping cost is then calculated using the box dimensions, total weight (product + box weight), and the complete shipping address. These details are sent to the UPS API, which returns the accurate live shipping rate.
Information about UPS insurance costs can be found at this UPS page: https://www.ups.com/us/en/business-solutions/grow-your-business-solutions/manage-cash-flows. The additional insurance fee will be added to the customer’s shipping cost during checkout in WooCommerce.

When the “Declared” option is selected under the Price Value in the International Forms settings, the value set under the product page as the custom declared value will appear on the commercial invoice, not the product price from the order.
If you’d like the commercial invoice to reflect the product price from the order, please change the Price Value setting to “Product.”
The C/T/O column on the commercial invoice represents the “Country of Manufacture” for each product, as set under your product’s UPS settings. It does not reflect the ShipTo country code. You should verify that each product has the correct “Country of Manufacture” specified in its UPS product settings to ensure accuracy in this column.
The commercial invoice displays the product price based on the configuration in UPS Plugin Settings >> International Form >> Price Value. To ensure the invoice reflects the original price (at the time of order), set the Price Value to “Product”.
The PluginHive UPS plugin’s shipping cost calculation is determined by the packaging method set in the plugin settings. If the packaging method is set to combine items into one package, the plugin will use the total combined weight to quote rates. Kindly make sure that the packaging is created as you expected. You can check the packaging method as well.
A rate mismatch can occur due to several configuration issues.

UPS Shipping Plugin To ensure the rates displayed match exactly with your UPS account, please review the configurations below:
Make sure the “Negotiated Rates” option is enabled, and set the “Customer Classification” to “Rates associated with shipper number” in the plugin settings.
The most common reasons for mismatched rates include incorrect shipper/recipient address, UPS service code, and package weight and dimensions.
Please double-check these details. Verify the “Insured Value Indicator” setting in the plugin, as it may also affect the calculated rates.
For accuracy, we recommend logging into your UPS account and comparing rates using the same addresses and package details.
The “Taxes Paid” indicator on the commercial invoice is specific to shipments to Singapore and does not apply to the UK. Therefore, this column will remain blank for UK orders, regardless of the tax rate or VAT included in your order.
The UPS shipping method appears twice because it has been enabled both in the plugin’s general “Rates and Services” settings and under WooCommerce shipping zones. To prevent duplicate prices:
1. Check both WooCommerce shipping zones and the plugin’s “Rates and Services” section to see where the UPS shipping method is enabled.
2. Disable the UPS shipping method in one location—either in the shipping zones or in the plugin settings—so it is only activated in one place.
3. This will ensure the UPS shipping rates are displayed only once on the cart and checkout pages.
