The primary shipping speed and delivery time for Xpresspost within Canada varies based on the origin and destination and a few other factors.

Delivery times for Major Urban Centres

  • For all Xpresspost packages sent locally, the projected delivery date will be the following day.
  • For all Xpresspost packages shipped regionally, the expected delivery date is the following day.
  • However, for all Xpresspost packages sent Nationally, the estimated delivery date would be 48 hours or 2 days.

Liability Coverage is up to $100

  • Each Xpresspost package will have a designated amount as coverage (excludes Literature for the Blind). This ensures that if the package is lost or damaged anywhere between the point of Shipping till Delivery then an amount of up to $100 will be out to the shipper to cover the cost of the damages as Canada Post is liable based on their contract and Terms and Conditions.

Leave at door (Do Not Card)

  • This feature is opted for in cases where the receiver is not present at the location or is unaware when they will be there to receive the package. Here is where Xpresspost comes in handy. The services allow the Canada Post driver to locate a safe location if no one is present at the address mentioned on the package and deposit the package at the safe location. A safe drop card will be placed in the postbox at the address mentioned on the parcel informing the person about the location of the item and how to retrieve the package safely.
  • However, in instances where there are no safe spots to drop off the package, the safe drop card will tell the recipient which designated post office he/she can pick up the parcel from.

Card (hold) for pickup

  • Hold for pickup is a paid service where the Canada Post delivery team sends a delivery notice card to the recipient providing them with the pickup location of the nearest post office. Use this service when sending temperature-sensitive items in Canada while using Xpresspost services.
  • In order to pick up the package, the recipient is required to carry a valid Government-issued Identification card to the post office and display that to the representative present at the counter.

Do not Safe drop

  • At the time of delivery, the parcel will be left in the mailbox at the address mentioned on it.
  • However, in the case where there is no one present at home and the package is larger than the mailbox size, the delivery specialist will place a delivery notice card in the mailbox informing the customer that they will have to visit the nearest post office to pick up the package.

Deliver to a Post office

  • Customers are given the opportunity to pick the most appropriate post office to pick up their items or packages from.
  • This can be either a post office close to work, school or even your favorite coffee shop. In order to pick up the item while using this service, the customer will have to provide a Government issued ID card at the post office for verification.

  • A customer is permitted to purchase additional liability coverage in denominations of $100’s and can purchase up to $5000 worth to cover valuable goods being shipped using Xpresspost within Canada. In order to purchase additional liability coverage for Xpresspost shipments, the customer will have to purchase the Signature option (additional options) which is mandatory.

Signature and Proof of Identity

  • While shipping packages, the shipper is allowed to use the service to obtain a signature from the recipient upon delivery. This helps to keep a track of who received the package and where.
  • Any customer who is below the age of 25 needs to display a valid photo ID as proof of age upon receiving the package.
  • Proof of identity is required while shipping packages, this is ideal for businesses that deal with shipments which contain credit cards/ID cards and other valuable goods and commodities.
  • Hard copy signature is another paid security service for Xpresspost Canada, the service provides the shipper to receive a hard copy of the signature from the recipient at a fee.

Returns

  • A shipper is provided with the additional benefit of having return labels generated for their Xpresspost packages. This is known as ‘Return to Sender’ and charges will be levied only if the return label is used.
  • Customers can use this option in case the recipient has moved from the address listed on the package or if the address details are incomplete and do not exist.

Pickup Services

  • Third party scheduled pickup is an additional service provided at a surcharge where the customer is allowed to request for pickup from multiple addresses (third party locations). This is made available when the customer signs the Parcel agreement.

COD (Collect on delivery) service

  • Canada Post will be permitted to collect up to a maximum of $5000 by credit card or up to $1000 in cash before the shipment can be delivered. This service is solely available within Canada and its Provinces
