Accurate Customs Amount on Commercial Invoice for Easy Customs Clearance

Customs amount

A customs invoice helps in the smooth and hassle-free passage of goods through customs. That’s why accurately filling in the customs amount is important to help the authorities determine the accurate taxes and import duties that apply to a particular package.

Below are some of the ways you can display accurate Customs Amounts in Commercial Invoices using the PH MultiCarrier Shipping Label app

1. Original product price on the commercial invoice and packing slip

The app by default shows the actual product price on the commercial invoice. So if you want to show the product price as it is, you are good to go with printing your Commercial Invoices.

2. Reduced value of the product price on the commercial invoice

If you want to display a percentage of the product price on the commercial invoice, head to:

  • Settings > General > Shipping > Customs/Insured Amount to be used
  • Under Customs/Insured Amount to be used > Select Percentage of Product Price > Set the Percentage of Reduction

3. Shopify discounted product price on the commercial invoice

If you want to display Shopify’s discounted product price along with the reduced product price on your Commercial Invoice then check the above first two points.

4. A Fixed product price on a Commercial Invoice

If you don’t want to display the Actual or Reduced Product Price, set the Fixed value to be displayed on the Commercial invoice.

It is not a recommended option because if you update your product price, you have to change the Fixed Value manually, unlike the first two options where the Customs Value is updated automatically. However, if you would like to display the Original Manufacturing price or the Lowest possible product price on the Commercial Invoice, this is a good option.

To offer a fixed product price on the commercial invoice, head to:

Product > Open the product > Under Shipping add the customs value

5. Handle International shipment with product price as zero

If you are handling shipments that include gifts or replacements & you would like to offer zero cost, you have to configure a Minimum Product Value for displaying on the Commercial Invoice.

Note

Customs will not allow international shipments with product price ‘0’

To add the Minimum Value, head over to:

Settings > Under General ‘Shipping’ > Minimum Value for Customs/Insured Amount To Be Used > Set the minimum value
